Damagro engages with the KODA Project on sustainable potato cultivation

Today, our colleague Pamela Dewit is attending the field visit of the KODA project in Kruisem. This initiative, driven by Viaverda, the Institute for Agricultural, Fisheries and Food Research (ILVO), Inagro, and VLAIO, focuses on creating directly applicable tools, knowledge, and insights for potato growers.

The project’s aim

Over a four-year trajectory, KODA seeks to provide farmers with practical instruments to map the environmental impact of potato cultivation and identify cost-efficient ways to reduce it. One key area of research is the role of biostimulants. Researchers are investigating how biostimulants could reduce the need for crop protection products and mineral fertilizers in potato production — a research question that resonates strongly with Damagro.

Why it matters to Damagro

At Damagro, we attach great importance to scientifically validated solutions. For years, we have been conducting our own laboratory and field trials to demonstrate the effectiveness of our biostimulants, such as Aphasol, across a range of growing conditions.

At the same time, we value the contribution of independent research projects like KODA. Evidence-based insights are crucial to understanding how biostimulants can be integrated into sustainable farming strategies. As the saying goes: to measure is to know.

Growing recognition for biostimulants

Across the sector, the added value of biostimulants is gaining ground — and rightly so. With cost-efficiency and sustainability as key drivers for today’s farmers, biostimulants are becoming an integral part of future-proof crop management. That is exactly where Damagro makes the difference.

During today’s field visit in Kruisem, the project partners reviewed and discussed the interim trial results in practice. We look forward to the insights that will emerge and to seeing how these findings can support farmers in making potato cultivation more sustainable.
